OUR LOCATION

Our home base is Benoni-Brakpan Airfield, a GA airfield 7 NM SE from Johannesburg International Airport.

Our 1.8 km long, tarred runway is suitable for 24/7 operations. Unicom Frequency 122, 7.

Being so close to an international airport offers direct access to navigation aids such as ILS, VOR, and NDB.

Our airfield is not over frequented; our Flight Training Area is only 5 minutes (flying distance) away. No waiting on the ground, no approach delays, no navigation or landing fees.

FLYING WEATHER

South Africa generally has a good flying weather, however, in the coastal and mountainous regions (Lowveld) the weather can often be unreliable. Our home base FABB lies at 1600 m sea level on the Highveld, and enjoys 330 sunshine days a year which guarantees perfect flying weather.

Important for hour building pilots: who operate within a limited time frame.
