module is a continuation of your PPL training towards your dream of
commanding a commercial turbo-prop or jet aircraft

Rating
This is the first
module in the Commercial Phase. The Night Rating is an exciting training
module as it involves new techniques and procedures, and the development
of new flying skills in order to handle an aircraft safely at night.

Instrument Training
The Instrument Flight
rating sums up all your flying experience and prepares you for a new
phase of flight called “Flying Blind”. The first phase is
a sequential training module designed to develop your instrument flying
skills, and the second phase is focused on flying actual Instrument
Approach procedures:
- A 40-hr comprehensive
training course
- Complete briefings
on all aspects of instrument flying, physiology of IF training, controlled
airspace, radar airspace, instrument navigation and approach procedures.
- Basic Handling
on instruments
- Advanced IF
manoeuvres
- Instrument approaches:
SIDs, STARs, NDB, VOR, ILS
- GPS Training
Note: To attain
the South African Instrument Rating, you will need to pass six of the
South African Commercial exams
Multi-Engine
Rating
The multi-engine
rating involves high-performance aircraft training, focusing on the
complexities of asymmetric flight in twin-engine aircraft:
- 15hr training
